Stream Issues
on Thu 10 Dec 2009 by Kris LipscombeUPDATE: As of 10am URF is back up for the last two days of term. Enjoy!
As of around 9pm today we lost contact with our streaming server, which is hosted remotely. Tech are working to get access returned, and our host's support team have been contacted. Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible, we apologise for the break in service but it's out of our hands.
Apologies again,

From now on your can apply for shows for next year. Just go to the Get Involved section on this website and make an application.
We will try to get repeat members the same slots but please put down a range of options.
Elections:
Elections for the exec are coming up in Week 2, 2010
Possitions avaliable:
Chair: Leadership of the station and the exec through chairing the weekly exec meetings and any members’ meetings. Responsible for communication between the Union and any outside bodies. First point of contact for issues with exec or other members.
Station manager: Legal responsibility for the station, administers finance. Plans the schedule and allocation of shows and training.
Secretary: Responsible for the administration and communication within in the station. Looks after potential and existing members.
Music editor: Runs the music team, organises reviews of music and collates the student radio chart.
Head of Public and Industry relations: Event management, marketing and branding the station, allocation, and distribution of gigs, interview, and competitions and running the promotions and marketing team. We encourage anyone who is interested in the station and would like to get involved to consider running for any of the positions. It can be a genuinely rewarding job, looks great on your CV and can give you useful experience in either media, radio, admin or PR. No experience or prior involvement is required and winners will be well trained before being let off on your own sometime in the spring term.

Social - This Thursday
on Tue 10 Nov 2009 by Tim ManleyYou are all invited to our first social of the year, taking place on Thursday (November 12th).
If you're a second or third year you'll know our socials are always
eventful. And if you're a first year, it's a great way to meet
everyone from the radio, make new friends, and get to know the current
exec (especially useful if you see yourself running for a future exec
team).
Anyone on campus can meet us from 8pm in East Slope Bar. Then we'll
make a move about 9pm into town, where we'll meet the rest of the URF
lot in the Font, a lovely pub/bar in the Lanes. So anyone meeting in
town - half 9/10pm is ideal.
We will then be strapping on our dancing shoes/non-dancing shoes and
heading to Coalition for SECRET DISCOTHEQUE. All URF members loved a bit of Secret Discotheque at its old residence and now it has recently elocated to the seafront, it is bigger than ever. Often described as Brighton's best Disco.
Join the event on facebook to get free entry!

If you have any problems meeting up with us on the night, here is my
mobile 07805732515, just give me a text/call and I'll find you.
Hope to see you all there....
Schedule Sorted!
on Tue 03 Nov 2009 by Tim Manley
The schedule has been tinkered with and improved and as far as we know almost everyone who applied has a slot has one.
Due to the unprecedented number of applications we received this year, many of the two-hour are now split in half to get as many people on air as possible at the times they can do.
If you have any problems with the slot you have, would like a name change, or would like to apply for one of the free slots, please email us at secretary@urfonline.com.
Tech Tribulation (Now Over)
on Sun 01 Nov 2009 by Daniel CooperUPDATE: Internet restored to us, and URF is back on air as of 3am. We will be investigating the cause with IT Services and USSU.
Due to some internet connectivity problems at URF towers we're afraid we're going to be off air for a wee while. We'll let you know when it's all fixed.
Sorry,
The Tech Team. x
