The First Days of Spring

on Mon 16 Nov 2009 by Joelle Waltham

Taken from the band’s second album, ‘The First Days of Spring’, Noah and the Whale really captures that sunny day feeling, with love oozing out of bunny rabbits and cuddles with their newest single ‘Love of an Orchestra’. With a full orchestra featuring strings, pianos, woodwind, soprano and tenors within a choir of smiling faces, ‘Love of an Orchestra’ conveys a flourish of hope and positivity, lifted from the official ‘break up album’ of the year. ‘I’ve got songs in my blood / I’m carrying all the love of an orchestra’ suggest you don’t need love; you just need the music, particularly when times are bad. The two minute long melodic happiness compares to waking up on a bright sunny morning, peering out from under the dark, sleepy, duvet and putting a spring in your step – this song being the soundtrack to your day.
